How Do River Parish Disposal Trucks Work?

Have you ever wondered how River Parish Disposal trucks work?

Rear loader garbage truckProbably not, when you see garbage trucks you probably try to turn around and go the other way. Garbage trucks smell, they are noise and they tend to block smaller streets when picking up trash….so there are plenty of reasons to despise them. But if you dare to take a closer look, you’ll find that those trucks are quite a marvel of engineering. Find out how River Parish Disposal Trucks work.

Did you know that they do more than “just” pick up your trash

There are different type of garbage trucks, but they all work pretty much same way. River Parish Disposal, for example, has front-, rear- and side loading trucks.  Each model picks up the trash cans in different manners, but they all compact the trash making it possible to haul away tons of refuse from our midst. Each model picks up the dumpster and then turns it over so the trash falls into a big container, called the hopper. The trash is then pushed to the back and compacted by a hydraulically powered mechanism.

Materials That Could Cause Trash Fires

How River Parish Disposal Trucks WorkThere are some household items that can cause trash fires.  Avoid putting flammable or combustible liquids such as gasoline, oil-based paints, or kerosene in your trash. Other Hazardous materials that could cause fires include ammonia, bleach, pool chemicals, pesticides and paint thinners. Cylinders containing compressed gas such as propane, helium, oxygen, acetylene or fire extinguishers also should not end up in your garbage can. Ashes from fireplaces, fire pits or barbecue grills can also be responsible for trash fires. Rechargeable batteries that contain heavy metals, including lithium, nickel cadmium or lead-acid and should also stay out of your trash. The danger is that when these types of items are mixed, or come in contact with, other substances that could be in the trash, the combination can be volatile and catch fire.
