New Orleans is a wonderful place to be during the summer months. Not necessarily for the weather, which tends to be a little hot, but because of all of the wonderful New Orleans June Festivals. From Oyster Festivals to Zydeco Music Festivals, there is definitely something for everyone. The River Parish Disposal Team compiled a list of some of the many festivals going on in New Orleans during June. We hope that it helps to plan your summer.

If you like oysters, this is your dream festivals. Every type of oyster food combination will be at this festival from raw oysters and charbroiled oysters to oyster po-boys and fried oysters. The festival also features a oyster eating contest and an oyster shucking competition. If that is not enough, there is a great lineup of musical entertainment including: Bonerama, Flow Tribe, Brass-A-Holics, and Bag A Donuts.

This is a great FREE family festival that takes place in the French Market. There will be lots of food vendors with great dishes like Fried Green Tomatoes, Creole Tomato Bloody Marys, and Creole Tomato with Shrimp Salad. You have the chance to see live cooking demonstrations, second-line parade, cooking contest and lots of live music. There is something fun for everyone.

This is a FREE festival that is all about Zydeco and Cajun Music. This year there is stellar lineup that includes many of Louisiana’s most beloved Cajun and zydeco performers including: legendary D.L. Menard with the Jambalaya Cajun Band, and Grammy winner Chubby Carrier & the Bayou Swamp Band. There is also a diverse group of food vendors with great offers including: Louisiana oysters, shrimp, catfish, crab, boudin and alligator. There will also be a kids’ activity area, an Arts Market, and a Folk Life Area.
