What Are You Doing For The Solar Eclipse?
Join friends and family for the Annual Krewe of Oak Mid-Summer Mardi Gras Parade on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 7:30pm. This year, the parade Captain Jamie Bernstein, moved the parade from the last weekend in August to coincide with the solar eclipse.
The Mardi Gras Parade Theme
This year’s theme is “Dirty One XXXI Coming In Hot” with a unique logo of rainbow unicorn riding atop an intercontinental ballistic missile, crossing the path of the fiery eclipse.
Parade Route
The parade will begin near the Maple Leaf Bar at 8316 Oak St. and will travel down to Palmer Park, located at the corner of South Carrollton and South Claiborne Avenue, and then return.
The Krewe
Stacy Morigeau, 2017 Queen, and Doug Trager, King Robustus XXXI, will lead this year’s parade….but they will definitely not be alone. The parade will have lots of dance groups including the Muff-A-Lottas, Tap Dat, The Organ Grinders, and even some of the Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus will march with the Krewe of OAK.
River Parish Disposal will be supplying portable toilets, dumpsters, portable disposal boxes, clean up crew and trash removal. We are excited to be participating with this great New Orleans Parade. Throw Me Somethin’!
