Midsummer Mardi Gras
The Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus continues its annual Summer Fun with the Krewe of Oak in Celebrating Midsummer Mardi Gras! The parade on August 25 rolls along Oak Street to Carrollton to Palmer Park back down Carrollton to Oak. There will be NO vending at Palmer Park. We’ll all meet outside of More Fun Comics (8200 Oak Street) and parade as a mass SubKrewe. The theme this year is Hard Oak for Your Tongue & Groove (the king is a carpenter). Feel free to integrate this into your costume or go a totally different direction. Your IKoC SubKrewe can coordinate or not.
What You Need To Know
There aren’t many rules, though one that is strict is NO MOTORIZED VEHICLES and please don’t bring any glass bottles to lineup or the parade. Please be responsible and bring your trash with you. The Bar2 will faithfully provide us with refreshment (though you’re encouraged to bring your own as well, especially water) and the Browncoat Brass will, as always, provide us with fantastic music. La Casita (8400 Oak Street) will host an after-party with a DJ and more. $10/adult to parade (kids parade for free, though note that Krewe of Oak is a bit risque).
