Red Dress Run is coming to town August 12!

We have lots of holidays, parties, and events in New Orleans that people dress up for, but the Red Dress Run is one dress up event that stands out in the city.

New Orleans hosts one of, if not the largest, Red Dress Run with thousands of people heading to the French Quarter decked out in their red dress finest. The costumes range from prim and proper to elaborate decadence. The style and design is all up to the participating runner.

The run is sponsored by the New Orleans Hash House Harriers, but it is not just a run but doubles as a fundraiser. All proceeds from the event go directly to charity. Some of the charities include: CASA Jefferson, Angel’s Place, Animal Rescue of New Orleans, NOAIDS Task Force, and so many more.

The New Orleans Red Dress Run falls on the second Saturday of August which will be August 12, 2017. The running begins at 11:30 a.m. (rain or shine), but the red dressers gather and the libations start flowing at 9:30 a.m. The route is always a surprise, but you can expect to run a full two miles and you will run through the French Quarter.

The Rules

The rules are pretty simple, wear a red dress. However, wearing the same red dress year after year is frowned upon. Don’t worry every GoodWill store, resale shop and many clothing stores typically devote rack space for Red Dress participants to find their frocks fairly easily.

You must be 21 to participate – no exceptions.

Registration

Cost for registration can vary depending on how early you sign up and if you want to sign up for related events. But, basic registration until May 31, 2017, is $50 with a $3 processing fee. Click HERE for more information.

Don’t worry River Parish Disposal will be bringing a lot of red to the Red Dress Run too. We are proud to be a sponsor of this great event and we provide portable toilets and trash removal for all of the Red Dress runners and participants. Can’t wait to see everyone in their red dresses supporting great local charities.
