Garifuna Festival 2018

Don’t miss the Garifuna Festival 2018 on Sunday, June 17.  The festival will kick off at  10am at Behrman Stadium. Tickets start at $25. The  Garifuna festival showcases Garifuna cuisine, music, and culture. Among the many artists performing during the festival you’ll find Honduran singer, percussionist, and guitarist Aurelio Martinez, Panamanian reggae recording artist El Rookie and US rapper Chritopher Martin.  For a full lineup and more details about the festival click here

Background

The festival highlights New Orleans deeply rooted cultural connection to the people known as the Garifuna. The Garifuna live in Central America along the coast of the Caribbean sea. Their territory spreads across the borders of four different nations—Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. To lean more about Garifuna culture watch the video!
